Celebrated Palestinian director Elia Suleiman’s long-awaited semi-autobiographical film, “The Time That Remains”, both pays homage to his parents and homeland, and laments the societal deterioration experienced by Palestinians who remained in Israel, the so-called “Israeli Arabs”.
Employing the bleakly comic style developed in the two earlier parts of this loose trilogy, “Chronicle of a Disappearance” and “Divine Intervention”, Suleiman’s first film in seven years is structured as a series of absurd vignettes showing the struggle of daily life in Nazareth.
